Studies suggest that as much as 10% of household electricity is used to light our homes. New LED light technology is significantly more efficient than those available previously being 30% more efficient than compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL), and 90% more efficient than an old incandescent (filament) bulbs.
Basic Bulb Types
Incandescent / Filament
The least efficient light bulbs.
Typically ran for 750-2,000 hours before failing.
Compact Fluorescent
Introduced a number of years ago as an energy efficient replacement for the filament bulbs and criticised for slow warm up times and colour quality.
They can last for 5,000 to 10,000 hours before failing.
Sometimes the tubes are hidden by a lightbulb shaped cover.
LED bulbs
Are the most efficient bulbs available and also last for a very long time (typically 20,000 to 40,000 hours).
They have addressed the quality issues of the CFL bulbs and produce good quality light immediately they are turned on.

Do you offer dimmable bulbs?
We don’t include dimmerable LED bulbs in our offering as they are not compatible with older dimmer switches. If your existing switch is an old dimmer switch, it may also damage new LED bulbs, old dimmer switch should be replaced to avoid damaging LED bulbs.
Can I have my old CFL bulb back once exchanged?
Your old bulb will be recycled and so will not be available for us to give back to you. Also, it would defeat the object of the exercise which is to take the older, less efficient bulbs out of circulation.
How do I replace a GU10 (spot-light type) bulb?
These can be tricky. This is a really helpful YouTube video: https://youtu.be/USvLN6EDLk4?si=A1R5H86rjPTgsKkr
